Over five years ago, and after the death of my wife, my cousins
Margaret Neate and Rosemary Jenkins talked me into going to square dancing lessons
at Jaybee Square Wheelers in Melbourne.
Because I have always liked dancing, needed the exercise, had been square dancing
in a small way as a teenager, and needed some diversion and new friends, I was a
pushover to recruit as a beginner.
This was the start of a whole new phase of my life, and I have never regretted becoming
involved in this fantastic pastime. I have met, and got to know, some of the nicest
and most friendly and outgoing people I have ever had the pleasure to associate with.
Over the last few years, I have become interested in the Internet and have built
a large web site for our specialist Success Centre Bookshop business.
Some time ago, I realised that I had the facilities already in place to be able to
publicise and merchandise some of the products produced by Australians, and to potentially
make them available to people throughout the world. I also wanted to make the site
interesting and informative for dancers.
This is only the beginning, but I hope to build
on this site to make it a worthwhile contribution to Square and Round Dancing in
Australia, and to give people worldwide a chance to buy our good Australian square
dance products.
Only recently we sold a Brian Hotchkies CD to a square dance caller in Germany, and
we look forward to expanding this market with time. We have some fabulous callers
in Australia and can well call ouselkves the lucky country.
With time we will probably add other unique products to the range. At this stage
we have all the Australian clubs I can find listed with direct links to those clubs
who have websites, and links to clogging in Australia and New Zealand and square
& round dancing in New Zealand. If you want your club added or your details changed,
please e-mail me.
